Zebula Lodge

Zebula Lodge is in Bela Bela in Limpopo Province. It is about 2h30 minutes drive from Johannesburg. Zebula is one of the properties that I visit year after year. What draws me to Limpopo is the beautiful landscape, the outstanding wildlife and the warm weather throughout the year. There is a Protea hotel by Marriot on site. I have never stayed in the hotel. We normally stay at the private houses in the Lodge. Zebula is a great family escape.

Zebula has quite a number of activities for both kids and adults. There are different ways you can view game. You can either go on a game drive, you can also go on a horseback safari which is quite interesting until your horse goes astray like mine. It was quite daunting for me, you are in this tall majestic animal and it decides to go off on its own. I guess it didn’t like following others. At least after a while I managed to control the horse and get it back to the group.

Another fun way of game viewing is to go on a quad bike safari. I particularly enjoyed this type of game viewing.

You are able to do this since Zebula doesn’t have dangerous animals on the parts where you do horse/quad-bike safari .

There is an elephant interaction place just across the road called “Adventures with elephants” Here you can interact with the gentle giants. They are one of my favourite animal.

There are three restaurants on site. You can also enjoy some spa pampering at the spa on site. A little bit of relaxation doesn’t hurt after doing some activities. There is a 18 hole golf course for golf lovers.

The last house we stayed in was quite unique. It was set up more like a lodge than a house. The entertainment area was detached from the rooms.

There were four bedroom and a cottage. Each bedroom has a sitting area outside as well as an outside shower. There is dinning area outside that looks more like a restaurant and two lapas with sitting areas. This place was incredible and we enjoyed our stay.
