Beautiful Bali

After a 13 hour flight, we arrived in Bali. Upon our arrival, we struggled to get our airport shuttle that was supposed to be organised by the resort concierge. There was no shuttle. I had to call the resort when the person on the other end asked for my name, which I gave to him, even spelt it for him. Even then, he did not understand - I was so annoyed. Eventually, we asked to speak to someone who understood English, and only then were we assisted by organising another transport as the one from the resort had a problem. This was definitely not the arrival I expected.

The traffic to the resort was hectic. This was surprising for a Saturday evening.

Other than the transport glitch, Bali is an amazing place!

We stayed at Karma Kandara resort. It is a beautiful resort in Uluwatu, perched on a cliff with endless ocean views. There are three restaurants on site and two amazing spas, the Cliff Spa and the Ocean spa. I tried both and they were both amazing. There is a gym on site. The resort itself is very big. To get around the resort we used the buggy service that’s available to the resort guests. To get to the beach, you need to take a lift that takes you down to the beach. Once you are down there, there is a restaurant where you can experience dreamy sunsets.

On Sunday, we were invited to Karma Jimbaran for a barbeque. Karma Jimbaran was about 25 min away from Karma Kandara. We had so much fun! the food was great and there was a lady DJ playing cool music and we danced the night away with people we just met.

Monday was movie night at the beach. This was so beautiful and romantic I must say. In the afternoon you can ‘kayak’ as the tide is low in the afternoon.

Bali time, is six hours ahead of South African time. This was a huge time difference for me.

I struggled a bit with jetlag. I was still operating in South African time while I was in Bali. Only one out of the seven days that I was there did I managed to make it for breakfast.

Most days started at 14h00 which was 8 am South African time.

My plan was to relax, only had a few places on my itinerary to visit of which I didn’t make it to any.

For me, this was a lazy holiday. Once in a while you need one of those!

If you are planning to travel to Bali, don’t stay in one place. If you want to visit places like the Rice Terrace and the Bali swing, I would advise that you can stay maybe two days in Uluwatu and then visit Uluwatu temple, then go to beach clubs and lastly move to Ubud for the serenity and stunning nature gateaways.
